(repeat with one less monkey each time and have your child hold up 5 fingers and lower one finger after each verse)
Counting Chant:
1, 2 buckle my shoe,
3.4 shut the door,
5,6 pick up sticks
7, 8 lay them straight
9, 10 a big fat hen
( repeat it again)

Games/Activities and templates
- Count the steps needed to walk from the sidewalk to the front door ( or two other places). Try walking the same distances with fewer or more steps.
- Start collecting pennies and count them from time to time.
- Collect a number of different types of rocks, leaves, sticks or other objects. Have them sort the objects by size, color, shape or any other way.
- When you are out shopping have your child help. If you need 5 cans of sauce have your child count out the 5 cans. If they only put in four ask them how many more they would need.
- Use different objects and both you and your child can create different patterns.
