Units

We will have 5 units that are consisted of different themes- two of them "Social Studies", one of them "geography" and two are "Science". Some of the themes might change. 


Unit 1: ( Social Studies) Self-home-family 
         Themes: body parts & things we do, feelings and friends, senses, home & family, including family routines such as cooking/eating/food and shopping. We will also cover Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Unit 2: (Social Studies) Neighborhood and Community and the world
         Themes: community service workers, transportation. Winter and Valentine will fall in this Unit. We will also study the world.

Unit 3: (Science) Seasons and Weather 
         Themes: Seasons themes are broken up and placed at the time the Season occurs and "weather" is placed near Spring Time. We will talk about Fall in October and November. Winter in December and so on. 

Unit 4: (Science) The Garden and Water/Bugs
         Themes: takes us through the end of the year concluding with a short unit on"Summer"

I will also be weaving in letters of the week in order to prepare the children for Kindergarten and get them used to talking about letters and sounds. The art projects will reflect the letter and are mostly tied in to the content of the unit. 
 I will also incorporate math in the circle and small group activities. I will also have two days dedicated to math and two days dedicated to Religion (since the pre-school is part of a Catholic school).  The four year old's will be required to go to the writing center once a week. During centers the students will work with me on writing skills and work in their journals as well as working on their math skills.
